School Smarts or Street Smarts?
I've decided that in life (the real world, people) street smarts will get you much further than school smarts. Now don't get me wrong, school is a very important part to our development (though I hate to admit it). But honestly, how often will I need to use the quadratic formula, graph a function, or calculate the number of mols in 75.2 grams of potassium in the real world? MOST LIKELY NEVER. I'm all for reading because I'm basically obsessed with literature, but is annotating a book truly necessary? I've just found that school has completely consumed me and driven me to my wits end. Also, all school seems to do is stress everyone else out, too and drive everyone a little crazy. There is so much homework, we're forced to stay in on our weekends. Where is the justice in the world? We wake up at six o'clock every morning, Monday through Friday. We often don't go to bed until unlawful hours into the night because we are forced to work on homework. You may be saying, "well then, don't do your homework." But that is the problem. I can't not do my homework, because I actually care about school, even though I think most of the material is useless in the real world. Isn't that just a dilemma? In ten years, will all this really matter? By then, all these moments will be are distant memories. Until next time, xxx.
