The Power of Positivity

I know the title is totally cheesy.  Some people will try to argue that the power of our attitude doesn't affect what happens to us, but guess what, it does!  There's this book and movie called The Secret and it is life changing.  Go read it or watch the movie because I promise you that your life will change.

So you may be asking yourself, "What is the secret anyways?"  Let me tell you.  The secret is this amazing concept around the law of attraction.  If you think positive things, then positive things will happen.  If you think negative things, then negative things will ultimately take place.  If you think over and over that one day you will be a millionaire, one day you actually will be.  If you think you'll win your soccer game next weekend, then you will.  If you think you'll lose the game, you will in fact lose it.
Here's a fun little story for you:  One day, after first learning about the secret, I was with my brothers in a small candy shop and there was a bubblegum machine.  My brother, being his 6 year old self, was ecstatic when three gum balls came out of the machine.  My mom put in change, and three gum balls came out for her.  Same for my dad.  My other brother put in a quarter and again, three gum balls came out!  As I put in my quarter I said, "My luck isn't as good as yours.  I'll probably only get one."  One gum ball came out of the machine.  I took another quarter and said, "Three gum balls will come out of the machine this time!"  Guess what?  Three gum balls came out.  Now you may be sitting there thinking that I'm stupid for thinking this has something to do with my attitude.  It's just luck, you're probably thinking.  But from my experience, it's all thanks to thinking positively.
The secret comes in many forms.  It comes from saying the positive things over and over, and never saying negative things.  I know, right?  It seems like an impossible task because all the time negative things are occurring in the world and in our lives.  If I'm completely honest, I'll admit that I can be negative sometimes.  Who isn't negative once in awhile?
Especially in high school, there are negative people everywhere.  It's like a contagious disease because if one person is in a sour mood, it ends up affecting everyone around them. That's one thing I can't stand about high school.  People are always complaining about their boyfriend, girlfriend, friends, social status, classes, and about everything else under the rainbow.  But high school is a primitive time in our lives, and we'll never be younger then we are at this moment so why not enjoy it?  I know there is negativity in high school, but there is also lots of positive things.  Even though it seems stressful, it really is our last chance before we are thrown into the adult world (but that's another entry).
I suppose what I'm really trying to say is use the secret as much as you can in your day to day life.  Try to surround yourself with positive people and try to find the light in even the most dour of situations.  I really hope you'll consider watching or reading The Secret because it genuinely has helped me through some rough things (and no, I do not consider only getting one gum ball rough).  Until next time xxx.
